Compatibility Notes
This kit should be used only on chairs where the cane sheet is pressed into a groove and secured with spline. If your chair has individual holes drilled around the wood frame, choose hand-caning supplies instead of a pressed cane kit.
For smaller repair work, you can compare the pressed cane webbing kit 18×18 before choosing this larger 24″ x 24″ version. For longer rolls used on cabinet panels, chair seats, or multiple projects, roll 1/2 fine open cane webbing may be a better option.
What This Kit Includes
The kit includes one pre-cut cane mesh sheet, #8 spline, five wood wedges, and a full color instruction booklet. The wood wedges help hold the softened cane in place while you work around the groove.
If your existing spline is damaged or too short, check spline for cane chairs before starting the repair. For customers comparing individual groove material, reed spline 9/64 can also help when matching spline size for other cane repair projects.
Installation and Care
Soak the cane webbing as directed in the instruction booklet so it becomes flexible before installation. Press the webbing evenly into the groove, use the wedges to help hold the cane in place, and install the spline carefully for a clean, secure finish.
After installation, let the cane dry fully before regular use. Keep the finished seat away from heavy moisture, direct heat, and outdoor weather exposure. Clean gently with a dry or lightly damp cloth.
For larger chair repair projects that need cane, pegs, awl, binder cane, and instructions, compare the complete chair caning kit before buying separate supplies.
