Compatibility Notes
This kit is designed for pressed cane seats, where the cane sheet is installed into a groove and held with spline. Before buying, check that your chair has a groove around the seat opening. If your chair has drilled holes instead, you need hand caning supplies rather than a pressed cane webbing kit.
For larger chair or cabinet projects, compare roll 1/2 fine open cane webbing before choosing a pre-cut kit. If you only need replacement groove material, check spline for cane chairs or reed spline 9/64 depending on your groove size.
What This Kit Includes
The kit includes the main materials needed for one small pressed cane repair project: cane webbing, spline, wedges, and instructions. The 18″ x 18″ sheet should be checked against your chair seat opening before installation, leaving enough extra material around the edges for fitting into the groove.
If you want a larger repair set with cane, awl, pegs, and binder cane, compare the complete chair caning kit before purchasing. For customers comparing different cane seat materials, chair cane common 3.5mm is a separate option for hand-caned styles, not pressed cane groove seats.
Installation and Care
Soak the cane webbing as directed in the instruction booklet before installation so it becomes easier to shape and fit. Work slowly around the groove, use the wedges to help hold the cane in place, and install the spline evenly so the seat looks clean and secure.
After installation, let the seat dry fully before regular use. Keep cane seats away from heavy moisture, direct heat, and long outdoor exposure. Clean gently with a dry or lightly damp cloth and avoid soaking the finished seat.
