This 18-inch wide cane webbing is a good choice for replacing worn or broken cane panels on chairs, benches, cabinet doors, and decorative furniture panels. It is intended for furniture that has a routed groove around the opening where the cane webbing and spline are pressed into place.
For wider furniture panels, you can compare this item with 24” wide cane webbing standard size fine open 1/2” mesh. For larger projects or multiple repairs, 50’ roll 1/2” fine open cane webbing may be a better option.
How to Order the Right Length
This product is sold by the running foot. Quantity 1 is intended to provide 12 inches of length, quantity 2 is intended to provide 24 inches, and quantity 3 is intended to provide 36 inches. Order enough length to cover the full opening plus extra material for trimming and fitting into the groove.

Compatibility and Installation Notes
Use this cane webbing only on furniture designed for sheet cane or pressed cane installation. It is not for chairs with individual drilled holes around the seat frame. Drilled-hole chairs usually require strand cane and a different weaving method.
Before installation, briefly soak the cane webbing only as needed so it becomes flexible enough to work into the groove. Avoid over-soaking, because overly soft cane can stretch or become harder to seat evenly. After positioning the cane, secure it with the correct spline size and allow it to dry fully. If your project needs replacement spline, check the groove size before ordering 8 reed spline 3/16” for 8 foot section.
Helpful Tools for Cane Webbing Repair
For a cleaner repair, remove old cane, glue, and spline carefully before adding the new webbing. A tool such as the C.S. Osborne caning tool No.406 can help press cane into the groove, while a 3/16” caning chisel can help with removing old spline or cleaning tight areas.
Care After Installation
Let the installed cane dry naturally so it tightens in place. Keep the finished cane away from standing water, harsh cleaners, and long exposure to outdoor weather. Clean with a soft dry cloth or lightly damp cloth when needed.
Avoid putting heavy pressure on the seat until the cane, spline, and glue are fully dry and secure.
